Amazon.com: Customer reviews: COWIN E7 PRO [2018 Upgraded] Active Noise Cancelling Headphone Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone Hi-Fi Deep Bass Wireless Headphones Over Ear 30H Playtime for Travel Work TV Computer Phone - Red
A few months ago I purchased the Cowin E7 noise cancelling headphones (non-pro model) for daily use during my commute, and occasional use for conference calls and other phone calls for work. I was not happy with the ability to use it for calls - I was told I always sounded muffled and distant, but thought the other features were good enough to try this newer model.
The upgrade is worth it. I've now used the E7 Pro for calls several times without a complain, and other features also got an upgrade. In short, the newer model is worth upgrading to, or paying the extra cost over the E7 if you're buying for the first time.
Overall impressions and comparison to the E7: The look is different. The E7 Pro is mostly black, with a few silver highlights, whereas the E7 has more silver, giving it a shinier/more metallic look. I like the E7 Pro look better although this is really individual preference. The materials used in both are very similar - the pads and headband look and feel identical, and the quality is very good.
The E7 Pro is heavy, a tiny bit heavier than the E7, due to the larger drivers. However, they don't feel uncomfortable, if anything, the weight contributes to the premium feel of the unit. The sound reproduction is excellent, and slightly improved from the already good E7, with the midrange sounding a bit crisper and the bass less muffled. However, where this unit excels, is the active noise cancelling.
I don't have experience with different ANC headphones, but the first time I put on the E7s and turned them on, it was striking to realize how much noise was around me and was no longer there. Wind noise, AC, engine noise, other background stuff that you don't pay attention to, but oh what a difference it makes when it's gone. Quite amazing. The ANC seems to have gotten even better with the E7 Pro but marginally so and it definitely improves your overall music listening and phone conversation experience.
The ear pads are wide and soft, making the E7 Pro comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. However, if it's hot you do get sweaty, and even the manufacturer recommends to not wear them longer than a couple of hours at a time in hot weather.
As I already mentioned, the biggest improvement in this newer E7 model is the microphone. Other parties in phone conversations could hear me fine, which checks a big box for me in usefulness.
Lastly, both models have batteries that just last forever. The manufacturer says 30 hours but I really think it's forever. I've never ran out of battery with either set, and only charge them when I think of it. The E7s have seen weeks of occasional use without a charge and even though I haven't had the Pro for very long I would venture a guess that their battery life is excellent as well.
My one complain, minor for me and not worth a point deduction, is that if you move the headphones (or even when you walk briskly and the headphones shift around on your head), there is a pop, which I think comes from an adjustment that the ANC makes when re-positioning. This is annoying but it's easy enough to switch ANC off if you're moving around. Cowin please try to fix this but do not compromise the ANC quality to do so.
Overall, these headphones feel and sound premium, much more so than their price indicates. The manufacturer reaches out to make sure you have a good experience with their product, and even the packaging feels premium. I would recommend the price premium over the E7 to get the E7 Pro, especially for phone calls.
I've had a pair of COWIN's E8 headphones for a while and have been delighted with them. However, when I went to Japan for a month and a half, I wanted to bring something with me that wasn't so expensive but also didn't sacrifice sound quality. Almost as if COWIN could hear my thoughts, there was a lightning deal on these the next day. I bought a pair, took them to Japan with me, and didn't once regret the purchase. The headphones are very lightweight and comfortable, plus they have even better battery life than the E8s. I wore them for hours on end in many different circumstances for many different reasons, and they never let me down; planes, trains, cars, hotel rooms, government buildings, homestays, cafes...video editing, noise control, music, audiobooks, Skype...you name it, I used them for it. As I already mentioned, these DO have better battery life than the E8s. They also track battery life a little better. With the E8s, my phone will accurately track the battery from 100% to 90% and then will suddenly plummet to 20% after hours of playing time--it's as though 90% counts for 21% through 90%. You don't have that problem with these. However, I do feel like the build and sound quality are a little better with the E8s (which makes sense, considering the price difference). The noise canceling leaves something to be desired, as well. This doesn't bother me at all, though, since I don't like noise canceling anyway. Overall, I'm very happy with these headphones. By no means do they replace my E8s, but I also haven't stopped using them since I got back from Japan. Rather, I've started switching between the two depending on the situation.
This Product is 100% Touchdown kick in the head for all distracting sound that wants to make sure you can't listen to your music or what ever you want to listen to. The bass is thick and rich, and being it is mostly covered in Metal in it's designs the engineers who made this unit made it feather light sitting on your ears. The best feature is the dual connectivity it has (WIRELESS/OR Wired) so you can even use them if your battery is dying on the headphones. That's another thing the battery on this is really top line, I have bought my units a little while ago and still have not had to charge the battery, and my phone keeps on indicating that it is at 100% or 99% and I have already collectively used the wireless portion of these headphones for more than 6 hours. I work alot in my church Media with noisy duplicators and printers, the first time I put these headphones on they completely disappeared I could not even hear them. My wife even tried them on for a few hours and they still were at high battery levels and she even said that my snoring disappeared when she put them on. If you want a headphone that will isolate your sound and keep it close while drowning out/canceling the sounds around you then these are the headphones YOU WANT. I would say there is another company that has a lot of competition coming up against it. There are some sound levels and pitches it won't drown out completely but it drastically reduces those sounds to where it is just a whisper. They are not cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. I have already bought a second one for my wife she loved mine so much, and they come in many color options.
UPDATE - Cowin has sent me a replacement pair of headphones! This makes it right in my opinion and I've changed my review to match. Thank you!! Great headphones with a great 18 month warranty :) -- I'm 34 years old, I'm a responsible electronic user. I did not throw these, drop them, or treat them poorly. I loved them. I always took them off and set them on the table after using. I would go for walks with these on. They were perfect.
And then they broke. They were $100 and they are permanently broken - they still sound good, but the left ear piece is now hanging, the swivel broke and it now dangles uncontrollable. When I try to put the headphones on my ears, the left one won't lay flat but now pokes outward at a 45 degree angle.
I don't have another $100 to spend on headphones like this. COWIN, I await your response and will update this if you reach out. I'm willing to manually fix this even, just PLEASE help. Having used these for only 8 months, listening a few times a week and treating them with the best care, and this happens? I can only conclude they were cheaply made and for a $100 pair of headphones, that is NOT okay.
I do not understand why some people are having problems with this headphones, nothing is perfect I am one that have at least 10 pairs of headset expensive and cheap ones, I have always been seeking that special unique sound. This Cowin E7 are great for my taste, I have the read one and believe me everybody notice them. NC may not be as perfect however, if you spend 400.00 dollars in another headset you may find some issues as well, I have to say I am pleased with these set and as long as I can hear music the way I think it should sound I am good to go..... Give it a chance, remember perfection for some people is just a way to dissapoint them.... Pro: Color -Attractive Red comfortable Cover the ears Easy to carry around Does not take long to be fully Charge Price you can't beat it.
The Cowin E7 pro upgraded is aesthetically appealing to the eyes in terms of the color variety from which to choose. The sound quality is simply divine. I am in another world when I’m listening to my favorite music and the noise canceling feature is outstanding in that it literally shuts out the outside noise and chatty passengers when I fly. In addition, the earphones are comfortable and no as bulky as other earphones. However, the most outstanding feature is the long battery life. I can go several days without having to recharge it and for the cost... definitely worth it!
I normally just buy the black/grey of everything when it comes to electronics, but this time I decided I would try out the red one. I was not disappointed as far as the color, it is bright red and I have had a number of people comment nicely about the color. The headphones themselves are nicely cushioned, not just the cups over the ears, but the headband as well. It has a nice weight to it where it does not feel like it is just going to slip off easily or be too heavy after hours of wear. The noise cancelling is important to me as I sometimes work in very noisy environments, be it lots of people or loud fans, this does the job quite nicely. I can't tell you the exact db it cuts out but it heavily reduces background noise. Music and phone calls are both clear through these headphones with not so bad lows & pretty good highs. None of the music I regularly listen to sounds worse through these headphones (like those cheap earbuds you get for free & have no brand name). Call quality with phone conversations is pretty good, I have had some callers tell me the mic pics up background noise & to speak up, but most of the time I am calling from those pretty noisy environments. Battery life is pretty good, after my 1st week of use it started beeping (low battery indicator, would be nice if it just said "low battery") and I didn't realize it was the headphones at first because the other wireless headsets I've used in the past needed to be charged at least every other day. As I had not had to do that with this one it took me a second or two to realize where the beeping was coming from...
Any advice for buyers & real world usage/issues - Just remember, LONNNNG press for volume change (yea, it is in the manual, but who reads those?). That said, first time I synced it to my win10 laptop & android phone it would not change the volume at all. Power cycled the headphones, no difference. Power cycled the devices & then volume control worked, & hasn't had a problem since. Comes with a hard-shell case shown in the picture.
I purchased these after much searching and review reading. I honestly can't justify spending hundreds of dollars on a pair of headphones so I searched and searched for a pair that wouldn't break my wallet but that would sound good. These are them. I purchased the red ones. Got them in 2 days(thanks Amazon Prime) and have been very pleased with my purchase. They look great first off(even the teenagers at my school were impressed). The sound quality is very good. They do have a volume limit on them(which I am ok with because who wants to go deaf when you get older from music being too loud). Still plenty loud. The noise cancelling aspect is pretty impressive as well. I had them on the other day while using the blower in my yard and I could barely hear it going. They arent overly Bassy but you can definately hear the lows. I adjusted the EQ on my phone and highs are there, mids as well. Battery life seems to be pretty good. I dont wear them for 10 hours a day but I do wear them for up to 4 hours in a day sometimes and they do very well. Blue tooth connection is spot on. No drop outs at all yet. I have been as far as 30 feet from my phone and the connection is great. I am super happy with my purchase and reccomend these to anyone who is looking for quality head phones but doesn't want to spend a fortune on a more popular, trendy brand.
I work in a shared office, and needed a pair of noise canceling headphones with good audio quality. Looking good was also a plus. These headphones are great so far. Very comfy, easy to store, and came with a nice case. And they look awesome!
UPDATE: Still very satisfied with this purchase, and love some of the convenient features of these headphones! The pairing process is fast and easy - just hold the center button down until you hear a beep, and enable pairing on your device. They also work well with multiple devices. I use a MacBook Pro and an iPhone, and switching sources at my desk is easy. I've discovered that I can pause/play, move between tracks, and control volume in Spotify using the buttons on the headphones, even in my MacBookPro. This is a really nice feature for when I'm at work and I need to quickly pause the music to talk to a colleague.
