This is your standard Brita filter. It is nothing special, but is large in size if that's what you are looking for. You cannot really pour water until the filtering area is mostly empty, otherwise that water seeps out from this area. The filter needs to be replaced more frequently than I would like, which is why I subtracted a star.
This is my third BRITA pitcher. I LOVE THEM! But I'm very disappointed in this new one I just bought. Two issues! Very disappointing. The filter change indicator, which flips up to add water to begin the filtering process, does not stay attached. Grrrrrrr. The second problem is the spout to pour the filtered water into a container. It is not a stream, but a flood. I have to fill my water bottles in the sink AND lose at least a whole bottle full of filtered water when doing this several times. When filling my coffeepot, water goes all over the counter and on the floor. I know I could refill the reservoir in the sink, too, but since I've never had this issue before, I forget when I refill the water reservoir. Ugh. I have written to the company and hope they send me a new one. Heck, I could take my hubby out for a nice dinner with how much these things cost. So. So. So. Disappointing. I've LOVED the others and they were perfect!
i've had brita since they came out. even once in a while you just need a new one. i've had this one for about 3 months and it's already gone wonky. the upper reservoir doesn't fit snugly in the main pitcher compartment, so when you accidentally overfill it, or want water while it's going through the filter system (as it's designed to do) water goes everywhere.
it's nothing like the previous model, which i thought was exactly the same.
thankfully it at least filters the water. i think...

We wanted a replacement for our older Brita as the timer was dead. We were disappointed when after putting it together the lid doesn't stay put. As others have noted, when you hold the pitcher by the handle with your thumb on the edge of the lid, it pops up. Seems so cheap. Can't believe a major company like Brita let this get by their quality control. I found that it has to do with the filter sticking up. Even pushing the filter down with some force leaves the top sticking up too far. Thus the tube connected to the lid hits the filter and the lid doesn't sit flush and pops up. I'm returning mine and looking at another brand.

Hello there. Thanks for giving our Grand pitcher. We're sorry to hear of your experience, and we're happy to help. The black specks you see are particles of activated carbon and are not harmful. It is normal for carbon particles to appear in your first fillings but re-soaking the filter, completely submerged in a tall glass of cold water, for 15 minutes, then holding it for 1-2 minutes under cold running tap water is often enough to minimize this. The particles also may be minimized by ensuring that water does not run into the reservoir with full force, and that the incoming water is generally directed away from the filter. We hope you find this information helpful. For further assistance, please reach out to us at 800-24BRITA and provide this reference number: 181018-000370. We look forward to assisting you. Bought one and barely after the one month mark, it started leaking and water wasn't following through one of the 4 filter tubes… I thought because of the defective filter, that's why it was also leaking from the side of the filter. I reached out to Amazon and they sent me another one but I received it and 2 days later there is water leaking again from the side of the filter but at least all my 4 filter holes are working this time… just going to use this until I finish my long lasting filter set but afterwards throwing it away and never buying another Brita. They suck.

We've had this item for 2 months and noticed it would leak water on our shelf. We thought it was because the water filled in the top portion of the pitcher would overflow. But then realized there were cracks at the bottom. We never dropped it and don't understand how these cracks sponteously appeared.

I loved my Brita when I first got it, but I quickly realized what is clearly either a very obvious design flaw or a defect in my item. The filter does not have a seal to keep the tap water from seeping around the filter, so you are getting unfiltered water in your reservoir. And there is no way to insert the filter to seal it. Also my filter change light has never once turned red to indicate its time to change, it only continues to flash green. I may have to look into another product with a better design

Same issue as other reviews. The lid does not stay together because of defective manufacturing. I've owned Brita pitchers for years and this is hands down the cheapest version (of the same product) that I've ever bought. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
I just tried buying the same item at a local box store and that pitcher had the same problem. Very poor quality control at best.
