My pups love it

We have 3 dogs, 2 hunting dogs and 1 husky. The hunting dogs get a more raw diet during hunting season (I feel like this food wouldn’t have enough protein for them when working all day) but in the off season they eat less fancy. I’ve gone through one 15lb bag so far and they like it a lot better than the Purina I was giving them before. Is it the fanciest or best for them? No. But when they are just lounging around the house all day they don’t need high protein food.
*i do give them a weekly multivitamin to make sure they are getting all they need and sprinkle a little oil (olive or coconut) on top from time to time *

Dog wouldn't eat it

My dog LOVED the Solimo Premium Chicken and Rice recipe dry dog food, but that flavor is no longer available through the Subscribe & Save program so I switched to this Solimo Basic (Chicken or Beef Flavor) version. My dog will not eat this. She tried but would spit it back out most of the time. She would occasionally eat a bite or two, probably due to her hunger, but most of the time she would let the bowl sit for a day before even trying to eat it. I had to switch to a different brand (which she loves and scarfs down as soon as I put it in the bowl -- similar to what she used to do with the Solimo Premium dog food). Wish they would bring the premium version back to Subscribe & Save.

Im sure if they were starving they would have eventually ate it, but as I was gradually introducing it to them it was impossible to ignore that they would go out of their way to eat only the other food & leave this Solimo dog food behind. Id dump 1 cup other brand & 1 cup Solimo and by evening all the Solimo food was left. It must not taste very good.

The smell is kinda awful. Worse than regular dog food but for only $18 for a 40 lb bag it’s a great value

I keep trying different dry dog food in the hopes that my dog will find one that he really likes. Dry is better for his teeth that wet food or human food. Unfortunately this is just one more that he didn't eat. I have tried several of the Amazon Solimo products and find them to generally be of comparable quality to name brands and I certainly would try any of the products over a name brand when the price is better. The price for this dog food seems reasonable, but I think for a few dollars more you could get a much higher quality dog food. What I didn't realize when I ordered this is that CORN is the number one ingredient in this food and not chicken. It is only chicken flavored, which could mean just about anything. As with any dog food, if you are okay with the ingredients and the price, try it and see if you dog likes it. Just like people, dogs have their own individual tastes. I think the Solimo brand (which I think is rather new) shows a lot of promise, but of course some of their products will be better than others. This food claims to meet certain feeding standards, so it is worth trying to see if your dog relishes it or shuns it.

Amazon's Solimo brand dog food is a hit with my Wheaton Terrier. The food consists of hard kibbles in shades of maroon, brown, and light brown. The kibbles are small, and similar in size to M&Ms and jelly beans. My Wheaton Terrier gobbles the food up without hesitation and does not seem to suffer from gas, vomiting, or diarrhea from the food. She does poop a bit more than usual with this food, however, the poops are well formed and hard.
All in all... a good alternative to name brand food.

My dog loves it, but I'm not a huge fan due to the first ingredient being corn. I like to choose foods where the first ingredient is meat and not a filler.
This food didn't seem to upset my dog's tummy or cause issues with going to the bathroom.

This is very much basic dog food. It doesn't have the most premium ingredients. It must taste good b/c my picky guy enjoys it. It is well made and the pieces are a good size for a medium-large dog. Overall, it's fine, not great.
