Product stopped working in five weeks, AIEX wouldn't replace or give refund

I purchased this item on July 30 and by September 7 it had stopped working. I'd been very careful with it so I was certain it was not because of anything I'd done. For example, I never just left the unit in the charger for long stretches at a time. Therefore, I felt justified in seeking a replacement or refund.
I first checked with Amazon which simply refused because it was outside of the 30-day returns window (by a whole seven days). There was the option of contacting the company directly so I took that route, writing to AIEX and explaining the situation. Unfortunately, AIEX replied with a form letter re-directing me to Amazon, which in turn stated the item was past the 30-day return window and again refused to take any action on it.
When I bought this item i realized it was an incredible deal compared to other electric toothbrushes. I was very skeptical but after reading the reviews posted here by other Amazon purchasers I felt comfortable enough to buy it. Therefore I am disappointed that it only worked for five weeks and while the electric toothbrush may have only been $20, I firmly believe it was realistic to expect it to work much longer than that.
My advice to other prospective purchasers is to realize you are gambling $20 when you buy this. You may have an experience like the many five-star reviews on here or you may have one like mine where I am essentially out the $20. It is also important to know up front that once the 30 days is past, you will get no help from Amazon or AIEX in getting a replacement or refund should your product stop working as well. Good luck.
ADDITION: I'd also posted a comment related to the AIEX Store's return policy on the AIEX Store page. I thought it was odd to have experienced the issue I did with a legitimate return while at the same time the AIEX Store boasts a 100% customer satisfaction rating. Somebody else also posted a less than 5-star comment around the same time. This lowered the AIEX Store percentage under 100. However, a day or so later I noticed that my comment and the other had been removed and the AIEX Store rating was once again 100%. This raised the question in my mind of whether the AIEX Store is having any negative or less than 5-star ratings removed in order to boost that customer satisfaction percentage. Again, buyer beware on this item and dealing with the AIEX Store.
