So far, so good. Yet another install in an Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM laptop. Easy. I simply downloaded a copy of Windows 10 from MS onto a flash drive, and ran the install off of that. Found it easier than cloning. Kept the 1TB HDD in the laptop. It was dual-booting to either/or (both Windows 10). After making sure the SSD was working, I disabled the HDD boot. I'll use the HDD drive for music, movie, etc. storage. Boots in ~15 seconds. Excel in 2-3 seconds. Didn't need the drive - laptop was fine as it was. Just wanted it - and the price was right :)

1.0 out of 5 starsComplete garbage. Bought a kingston 128GB ssd and this adata ...
April 13, 2018
Complete garbage. Bought a kingston 128GB ssd and this adata 128GB SU800 back in February 2018. Both were installed in mid march running similar systems. The Adata machine started having difficulties and running slow. I went to reboot the system and it wouldn't come back. At first, the error was stating that the boot record was corrupt. I then proceed to use the recovery disc for repair. This is where things got interesting. The drive apparently failed to the point where the bios would recognize it but windows wouldn't load. I then proceeded to install it on another working machine to see if I can format the drive. The interesting thing is that that machine wouldn't even want to boot. I tried this with another machine and the same thing. My final remedy was to install it on the original machine and try to run the windows installer from USB and then try to install windows that way. No luck. There must be some critical failure when mounting the drive that prevents the OS from even operating.

Things go more interesting when I attempted to file an RMA. I created an account on Adata's website and filled out all of the information required to start the process. This involved entering my name, address, purchase data, serial #, product id, description of problem (text area), etc. They received this information and 48 hours later, I get an email with a word document stating that I must fill it out in order to finalize the process. Funny thing is that this word document has a small form which asks for my name, address, serial # and a one line sentence of the problem. Do you see the problem here? I just filled out a greater subset of information on their website when I started the RMA. Now they want me to fill out a word document with some of the information that I already fill out on the website. Not only that, the information on the website has much more detail. They even have a dropdown menu with an option that describes my problem 90%.

More problems. The drive I bought from amazon only had the product label and a small sticker on the side that reads "warranty void if broken" There wasn't a serial number on the drive whatsoever. The serial number was on the box. I let them know that there wasn't a number on the drive itself. They responded letting me know that the warranty is void because there isn't a sticker on the back with the serial number.

A couple points. Based on the FTC, they can't void the warranty. Also, either they forgot to put the sticker on the drive or amazon sold me a fake or used drive.

Adata's solution is for me to send them a picture of the back showing the lack of a sticker. I asked them what this is going to accomplish. Especially after going through the multi-step process of submitting the RMA. Leonard, the supervisor, told me that he would take it to management to see what they wanted to do. Other than wasting my time, I don't see what this is going to accomplish. Here is the picture for you viewing pleasure.

This drive failed after 1 year, and 5 months. SMART status showed 5 and 182 code errors. Connecting it externally via USB adapter in another Windows 10 pc causes Windows to crash, however, connecting externally to a MacBook reads it and recovers data just fine. Data not lost but drive is now trash.

1.0 out of 5 starsSupport is non existent
August 24, 2018
Capacity: 512GBStyle: 3DVerified Purchase
There is quite a lengthy comment from another purchaser stating all the many issues he encountered. These included a convoluted, and for me a complete non success outcome resolving multiple issues. Receiving migration software was just a farce. Don't count on it. When I couldn't find a serial number and complained to Amazon they just forwarded my complaint to Adata. Adata did not assist me with a serial number and all codes on my drive did not work to receive software. Acronis offered no help either and Amazon basically is off the hook since problem extended past the return date. I have a drive that has cost me endless hours of aggravation attempting to complete a purchase with all that was advertised and that isn't what I received. Last major issue was the drive is advertised as 512gb but mine would only show 480Gb. I now see Adata has a new model listing 480Gb. Interesting! Thank you Amazon!

1.0 out of 5 starsDo not buy this ADATA SU800 SSD. Way too slow. Firmware update erases all your data.
July 26, 2018
Capacity: 128GBStyle: 3DVerified Purchase
The 128GB SU800 is just plain slow!!!!!!! If you choose to perform a firmware update on your drive ALL your data will be wiped! No other SSD manufacturer such as Samsung or Crucial erases user data with their firmware updates. I'll never buy another ADATA SSD again.

Look up online the in depth review for these ADATA SU800 SSDs on Tom's Hardware. The smaller the drive, the slower it is. The best performing drive of the SU800 series is the 512GB model. ADATA is very misleading on their packaging with claims of read speeds up to 560MB/s and write speeds up to 520MB/s on the 128GB SSD. It's a straight out lie.

I do not recommend this 128GB SU800 SSD from ADATA. Spend a few dollars more and go with a mainstream Samsung or Crucial SSD.

You've been warned.

Didn't even bother to return it. I had this in an older laptop and it was working great and without notice it failed to boot one day. For $40 I just chalked it up as a mild annoyance and moved on with my day. I tested it again in another system yesterday just to be sure it was for sure dead. Yep. Dead-Dead-Deadski. That's ok, ADATA, I don't need your cut-rate crap anyway. Should have just paid the extra scratch for a Crucial or a Samsung. If you want to compete in this market, you should probably think about making products that last longer. Bye ADATA.

4.0 out of 5 starsSpeeds are dead on, but there are a few issues.
June 20, 2018
Capacity: 128 GBStyle: 3D TLC M.2Verified Purchase
Well, after ordering a new laptop, I was sickened by the fact it only has a 5400 rpm hdd. Then I saw the m.2 slot for ssd speeds. Unfamiliar with this tech, I bought the cheapest ssd available.

This ADATA m.2 ssd was recognized immediately. I had issues with the included cloning software, so used a more reliable software and cloned my boot partitjon, and a game to the device.

Read/Write times are right about as advertised. It does run a bit hot, but has yet to reach temps that could lead to shortening the lifespan of the drive.

There has been one pressure I can't get around. There have been a few occasions where the ssd was not recognized by the laptop. After removing it and reinstalling, it was picked up just fine.

For the price, four stars is fair. It is far from perfect, but when rright, it is blazing fast.

I would recommend this drive for noobs who want to experiment with this newer technology. I will buy a larger capacity unit in the near future.

Recommend this for people new to the m.2 ssd. At this price, if you mess it up, it isn't a big loss. Just beware the enclosed cloning info didn't work for me. So be prepared to use a more complete cloning software.

5.0 out of 5 starsI have only had two of these go up in close to 100 drives bought/installed
August 16, 2019
Capacity: 1TBStyle: 3DVerified Purchase
I do a little bit of computer work on the side and had a good flow coming from a buddy that would do the auction thing and purchase a crapload of laptops/desktops on a pallet. I would upgrade to the furthest extent each laptop or desktop, and then install fresh copies of latest OS and office, and Of all the computers I have done over the years this ssd has been the best performing and lasting. it's pretty consistent on transfers either internal or through the bus. It will when given the opportunity, saturate the bus when transferring to other ssds or drives. I have only had two go bad and this, I don't believe is even the companies fault. Both I believe were due to power surges as one had other components go when the power went out and subsequently back on and off several times. The other was from a fellow using an incorrect power supply on a laptop that wasn't even designed for it, let alone provided the necessary current. It ended up causing the laptop to overheat and ultimately took out the drive and made the cpu throttle, overheat most the time in use until the battery would literally die while it was still plugged in. Either way, this drive is not only a great value, it uses that 3d nand and it actually is TLC that is usually the type i would purchase anyways. It of course isn't as endurant as far as total writes or terabytes written till failure. But if you had the choice between sometimes twice the price or twice the capacity for the price, would you choose the samsung or the adata... I ultimately chose the latter. It has yet to fail me just on manufacturing process or other physical imperfections.

Always make sure you have a surge protector between the devices you actually want to keep using and the wall.

Installed it no problem on the day I got it, PC detected it immediately, I was able to format it and start using it under 30 minutes. A few days later, I boot up my pc and I noticed an error and that my data is missing. The drive is gone from Windows and undetectable in the BIOS. I open the PC up and find the drive with a burn mark. I lost all my data on it but luckily I had a backup.
