I haven't watched Gantz, but it seems awful lot like a manga - Battle Royale in terms of similar story goes after reading some of the plot summary online...you know, some people randomly got seleted and trapped inside an area, given weapons and were forced to kill other beings in a gamelike show.
I can stomach violent animes like Hellsing, Claymore, Akira, Berserk etc, but if the violence on Gantz is as bad as BR for example the intestines pop out, eye balls got pierced or brains got blown up etc, I think I'll pass. 11 hours ago

@M_ So by your definition does that make a cynic or pessimist a troll? Yes, congratulations in realizing that every form of entertainment has it's trash. If we compare both American and Japanese animation, we can see the value for both has decreased as the decades have come and gone. However, American animation comes no where near to being supersaturated with shows filled with fan service, lolis, 'moe', and ecchi. The majority of anime these days is sold on those factors. It used to be that anime took risks or had something to 'learn' and as a result was worth watching. Now since there are so many anime shows being output on a daily basis, they simply cater to the lowest denominating factor, softcore porn and what have you, to get as many viewers as possible. Granted, there are a few shows that do not follow this pattern, but those that don't AND are what I would deem worth watching are few and far in between.
