Goals : I'd like to start up a business taylored to underground hip hop heads complete with my own magazine that caters to local hip hop artists and other underground acts. Someday, I'd really like to be a professional hip hop/rap music critic.
Interests
I enjoy underground hip hop, documentaries, collecting obscure t-shirts, and designing my own t-shirts. I also love to write reviews for underground hip hop artists.
I was glued to the book because it was able to give me an understanding of my feelings when it comes to the subject matter in this book. It took me quite a while to get through it because some of the stories caused me to take a step back and anaylize my feelings a bit more. This album was banging from start to finish. I really enjoyed the freestyles that they successfuly blended into the album. They add a gritty, home made, old school, underground cypher feel to them. (See Conquistadors) It remindes me of hanging out in a friends basement with an instrumental tape, dual cassette karoke machine, and 2 mics. I can't believe I was sleeping on them. This album is chock full of delicious beats, samples, scratches, insightful rhymes, and real talk. See "Honest Expressions". THIS album is a true to form example of what… Read more
A lighthearted teenager with swagger and some bragadoccio sprinkled in steps on the scene and delivers a strong album. LL was 16 years old at the time. Compared to the current young rappers in that age group, not only is his album very complex, but it trumps a lot of the stuff being put out now. This album is a very solid effort, and after listening to what's on the airwaves right now, this album has an effect comparable to when you open up a window to a room with stagnant air. Not only do you feel refreshed, but you regain some of the brain cells that you lost when you turned on todays radio.
All rap fans should do themselves a favor and put this one in their cd players… Read more
