Gillette Venus Embrace Razor
Average Vine Rating: (24 Reviewers)

Daniel McKinnon says, Smoothest shave ever
Being in martial arts I found the benefits of shaving areas that men don't usually shave as opposed to staying hairy all over (go ahead and insert your metro sexual jokes here) and have used a womens razor for years so I know what I am talking about. With the addition of the lubricant outer edge, the aforementioned 5 blades, a comfortable grip and a shaving station to put your razor back, this newest invention by Gillette truly is a work of art. (read full review)

Morganna Wolf says, Nice design and shave
The fact that the heads are packaged in plastic and foil make it easy to keep a spare one in the shower. I'm forever forgetting to change it long after the blades have gone dull. The extra packaging while nice for my forgetfulness does not appear to be recyclable and therefore just some extra waste.

The "Shower Pod" is a nice idea since many newer razors are too wide for most razor holders. -- Now if I can convince it to stay stuck to the side of the shower I'd be even happier. (read full review)

Cherise Everhard says, Eh, not bad but not great
All in all I just don't think it's worth the hype. The 5 blades didn't do anything more or extra that I could tell, and the surrounding plastic hindered anything the blades could have possibly done. (read full review)

Logitech diNovo Mini
Average Vine Rating: (24 Reviewers)

Wesley Mullins says, Simplify your HTPC experience
At this price, it may seem like you are paying a lot for what amounts to a keyboard and a Bluetooth connection, but since it monopolizes the market and plugs a hole that has been missing for the HTPC functionality, it is not overpriced. It took less than 10 minutes for me to set up the device. The unit works with a PS3, but is not compatible with Xbox or Apple.

A neat option is the control pad which switches from the standard directional buttons to touch pad. Users will quickly see the benefits when they realize the touch pad works perfectly for navigating a webpage, but is not the right match for the standard windows menu tabs.

Overall, this is one of those gadgets you didn't think you need until you heard of it, and once you have it, you won't be able to imagine life without it. (read full review)

Water Monkey "Marc B." says, Handy controller, but a little slow for games
When I first pulled this product out of the box I wasn't so sure of it. The buttons looked small and close together. I thought that I was going to have problems typing with it. Luckily, that was not the case.

After a simple installation of the software, which also synch'd up with my G5 mouse, I was off and running. I am not a Media Center user. Most of my multimedia needs are met with Nero or various Adobe products. I must say though, with the ease of control of this device I may start using Media Center more. The diNovo Mini is very intuitive to any user who knows their way around a keyboard. Most of you typical buttons are where you would expect them...All in all, this is a great little device. Especially for someone looking for a smaller alternative to a wireless keyboard. (read full review)

Gadget Geek says, Another decent performer
The only real complaints I have is that the keyboard takes a little getting used to since the layout is offset to the left to make room or the innovative d-pad/touchpad. I also wasn't pleased to find that my built-in bluetooth didn't find the Mini, but once I plugged the included bluetooth adapter into a USB slot everythimg installed by itself and it worked perfectly. From the reviews, some people seem to be having some success with their bluetooth. Perhaps its hit or miss?

The only other thing I would have liked to have seen more comprehensive PVR controls. Maybe version 2 would have make better use of the lip down cover which doesn't do anything but make the unused controller more sleek looking. A second screen that has basic PVR controls would be great. Hmmm...maybe a cross between the Harmony One and the diNovo Mini.

Overall, I think Logitech has done a decent job building the DiNovo Mini, but missed some of my admittedly high expectations. Perhaps it'll be updated in future revisions or updates? Keep up the good work Logitech! (read full review)

Logitech Squeezebox Duet Network Music System
Average Vine Rating: (9 Reviewers)

P. Heath says, PC Music and Stereos Unite!
This device brings together the best of both worlds between mass storage of mp3 format music and quality sound of a dedicated stereo system. In addition it also brings internet radio stations and music subscription services to your home stereo to boot...This is a digital music lover's dream come true. (read full review)

W.C. Bryant says, The promise of open and easy access to all of my music finally fulfilled
A promise fulfilled. Quick, convenient, and effortless access to both my own local music files, but also internet radio and popular online music services. Easy to configure, easier to use. Attractive, intuitive, and responsive. A wonderful solution, and I'm rediscovering music files I hadn't touched in years. (read full review)

Charles Evans says, Probably closer to 3.5 stars
Logitech has become quite the innovator in the world of personal electronics. I have found Logitech remote controls and keyboards to be far superior to their competitors. While I am a true believer in Logitech - however when reviewing an item like the Squeezebox I think in terms of Apple... and namely... Apple TV.

The Logitech Squeezebox is a very effective way to stream internet radio stations, and selected content into the stereo system of your choosing. Itunes and other music libraries can easily be accessed and streamed once you have established a Squeezebox account (Although you CAN NOT stream music purchased through iTunes...Apple does not give up that easily!). You may also subscribe to music services such as Rhapsody which gives you the ability to store music online and play on-demand….The Logitech Squeezebox is an effective way to stream music/audio files into your stereo (even though I currently personally limited by the distance between my router and the unit). Smaller homes or people who have their routers more centrally located my not be effected. My only complaint is that all of the technology that is built into the remote has caused the price to jump to a point that will limit interest. For roughly the same price you can buy a nice Ipod and a set of powered speakers... (read full review)

Ragu Fresh & Simple Smooth Pasta Sauce
Average Vine Rating: (19 Reviewers)

T. Thompson says, A Product that Lives Up to it's Name
The scents wafting from the kitchen were appealing and my first bite confirmed that Ragu had once again lived up to it's name. As it's name implies the sauce was definitely fresh. In the beginning of my review I waxed nostalgically about my mother's homemade sauce. What makes her sauce stand out in my memory are two clear factors: flavor and texture. Ragu truly has both of these bases covered. (read full review)

Donald P. Martin Jr. "d_p_m_j" says, Bachelors, Start Cooking Pasta
The flavor surprised me, to be honest. I thought it was very good, rich and hearty for something in an almost-ready-to-eat package! It tasted fresh, and it was satisfying for a pre-made sauce.

The package was too big for two people, which was a minor drawback. If it weren't for this fact, come to think of it, we wouldn't have had to put the remainder in a plastic container, and one of the benefits of this was that we didn't have to dirty a saucepan to heat it up. Which means less washing time on the tail end of dinner. (read full review)

TRFB says, Bitter Tasting, Easy Cooking
I tried the sauce with Spaghetti. Ground turkey was added to the sauce after it was heated.

I sampled the sauce by itself prior to placing on the spaghetti pasta. It had a bitter taste to it that I really don't like in the sauces. Another taste experience I had like this was with Prego sauce.

Next, I added it to the Pasta and added the Parmesian Cheese and Red Chili Pepper (as I normally do). It seemed to cover the bitter taste only slightly, but not enough.

One tip I heard with some of these sauces is to add a small amount of sugar to take the bitterness out and ease the acidity of the tomato.

I didn't do this with the sauce only because I wanted to review the sauce as is. (read full review)

ooma Hub - VoIP Phone Device
Average Vine Rating: (44 Reviewers)

Martin A Hogan "Marty From SF" says, OOMA Saves Me Money And Does A Lot More!
My total savings per month will be approximately $25. That means $300 minimum in one year. Here's the good part. The reason my long distance was already inexpensive was that I used my Cell phone for all long distance charges, but the reception was very poor. OOMA Hub has great reception. So my OOMA Hub system will pay for itself in 16 months - that's not even as great as those people who pay regular long distance on their phone bills! Compare your current costs to the future OOMS costs - it will be substantially more than mine. (read full review)

Mark "Technology, Music and Movies" says, Ooma - VOIP with some surprises!
Pros
+ No residual monthly service charges! Free domestic long distance!
+ Nice design - sleek unit with big simple buttons and lighted indicators (blue=good, red=bad! :-))
+ Offers landline integration or pure internet phone options to meet different consumer needs
+ Landline integrated service offers real 911, not internet call center - HUGE PLUS!!! + Landline integrated service lets you to use it from multiple phone jacks with Ooma Scouts!!! ooma Scout - Accessory to VoIP Phone Device with No Monthly Phone Service Bills
+ You can keep your same number with existing landline service or get a new number with internet service
+ Included voicemail system can be accessed over the internet via the OOMA lounge!!!
+ GREAT international calling rates!!!
+ Great startup manual with very simple instructions for almost every possible setup
+ Works with any phone, corded or cordless
+ Instant second line allows you to put people on hold, answer another call, or conference in 2 calls
+ Call screening, do not disturb, or send to voicemail when you are not able to answer a call!
+ Voice quality is very good
+ Service includes many premium features, including caller ID, call waiting, 3-way calling, etc.
+ One year warranty on the hub or scouts

Cons
- Initial cost may seem high and keep some people away, though I personally think it's worth it
- Still not able to transfer numbers to Ooma system; internet only system gives you new number; should be coming soon
- Requires an existing broadband connection; dial-up users will need to upgrade before using Ooma
- Perhaps less flexible for those who want to call from their PCs when travelling away from home
- For the internet only version, less ways to have multiple phone lines indoors
- Design doesn't include integrated caller ID screen
- No color options yet - just the basic silver / white
- Ooma system must be prioritized over your home router
- Won't work in a home or business with a home phone routing system (HPNA) already installed (read full review)

H. Cota "takingadayoff" says, Not for Everyone
Since Ooma works via the internet, if the power goes out or your ISP is out of service, Ooma doesn't work. And Ooma doesn't work with wireless internet.

Unlimited U.S. phone calls are included in your Ooma service, but international calls cost extra and you have to pre-pay.

My traditional phone service is fairly reliable, certainly more reliable than the power in our area which surges or goes out altogether whenever the wind blows. I have a rechargable phone card that costs me 3 cents a minute for U.S. long distance and a few cents more for international. Cell phones are not usable indoors in our area. So as simple and streamlined as Ooma is, it just isn't for everyone. It isn't for me. Sorry, Ooma. (read full review)

Para Alem da Saudade
Average Vine Rating: (25 Reviewers)

Alejandra Vernon "artist & illustrator" says, Mellow and Gorgeous
Mellow enough to be wonderful as a background for a romantic dinner or for a curling up with a good book, and gorgeous enough to listen to without any distractions, Ana Moura's sultry voice, and the selection of melodic songs in this exquisite collection make for an exceptional CD that should find a wide audience, way beyond the niche of "world music" and lovers of the Portuguese fado. Born in 1980, Ana was discovered by producer/guitarist Jorge Fernando, who had been guitarist for the legendary Queen of Fado, Amalia Rodrigues, and Ana has a semblance of Amalia's vocal quality, with her smoky sound and emotional expression. She has performed to SRO audiences from Carnegie Hall to Amsterdam's Concertgebow, and perhaps this young international superstar will inherit Amalia's mantle as the new Queen of Fado. H. Bala "Me Too Can Read" says, Get your melancholy on...
I like every song here, truly. But, yes, I admit to several favorites: the folksy "Os Buzios" ("The Cowrie-Shells"), "E Viemos Nascidos Do Mar" ("And We Came Born from the Sea"), the lilting but wistful "O Fado Da Procura" ("Fado of Search"), "Mapa Do Coracao" ("Map of the Heart"), and the semi-bluesy "A Sos Com A Noite" ("Alone with the Night"). I cannot recommend PARA ALEM DA SAUDADE highly enough. Give this one a try. Let Ana Moura's brand of mournfulness and sensuality wash over you. It'll put you in a mood, and you just might get your melancholy on. (read full review)

Chrissy K. McVay "Writer" says, Sultry & Smooth...
Ana Moura's sultry voice, combined with silky smooth melodies, is a perfect blend of music for a quiet evening by the fireside. However, if you're seeking 'festive' tunes this isn't the right collection. The few upbeat songs performed on this C.D. lacked a little energy in my opinion. I did feel Ana's furtive tones in some of the songs were 'holding back' her unique emotional energy that I felt she was capable of, and would help her voice stand out from so many other performers. Ecco Bella Brown Mascara
Average Vine Rating: (20 Reviewers)

Caprig says, Finally- A Mascara Like I Remember It To Be
So far I am impressed with the overall natural basis of this product and how well it performs against some of my favorite brands. What I found refreshing was that the aroma of the mascara was reminiscent of the way that mascara used to smell when I used it some years ago. A very clean smell compared to the chemical odors of today's products. (read full review)

Maries "Maries" says, So-so
I didn't think it went on as smoothly as other mascaras. It caused my lashes to stick together, and I had to use a lash brush to separate them so they didn't look clumpy. I tried applying it out of the bottle and wiping off the brush first, but either way it didn't separate well as it went on. However, once I used the lash brush, it ended up looking very nice and natural, sort of feathery (no clumps). It also wasn't entirely smudge-proof, although the smudging was pretty minimal. (read full review)

Tracy Vest says, Unimpressed
The first time I tried it, it was seemed to vanish within a couple hours, and barely put any color on my lower lashes. It never really lengthened or thickened my lashes. The second time I tried it, it took about three coats to get the mascara to even color my lower lashes. I did get longer upper lashes as a result of putting a lot of it on, and while it did not clump, all it took was a little eye watering to make me resemble a raccoon. (read full review)

Wealth War Wisdom
Average Vine Rating: (12 Reviewers)

Craig Matteson says, How did investors react during World War II? How did they struggle to preserve their material wealth?
This book is a fascinating view of World War II from the perspective of economic investment. However, this is not a technical book in the sense that it is full of charts and graphs. The author, Barton Biggs, is able to fashion his story in an interesting and compelling way that takes us through a compressed telling of the war in Europe and the Pacific while also showing us what it did to the markets here at home and abroad. (read full review)

K. Andrews says, Interesting account of WWII and the stock markets reactions
If I could have given this book 3 ½ stars I would have in a heartbeat. The book is not deserving of 4 stars based upon the lack of glossary, lack of organization, and the mix of mediocre and outstanding writing. At times the book reads like a historical account of World War II, and at other times economics are discussed but often abruptly introduced as if the author realized he needed to momentarily throw in some economic data before continuing. (read full review)

Jon Norris says, Interesting but flawed
His [Biggs'] idea about the stock market being some sort of ideal democratic institution with deep intuition is naive in the extreme. Equities markets are constantly manipulated by well heeled insiders, which has been clearly demonstrated so many times that it hardly bears mentioning. From the battles of JP Morgan and his enemies (which racked the entire U.S. economy), to huge profits taken in crashes like those after the foul murders of JFK and 9/11, to BCCI and P2, the stock and commodities markets are the chess boards of the wealthy elite and black project criminals. The stock market does not reflect either the true wealth of the nation (or world), nor the state of the real economy. It is an elaborate casino where the games are too often rigged, and always favor the "house" at the expense of the players.

While there were many interesting stories from the war and many great lines from Churchill and others, on the whole I really feel the book falls flat. The premise is not solid, the evidence poor or contradictory, and some of the facts just plain wrong. All the great stories and good writing can't compensate for that. There are much better books about WW 2 and the economy. (read full review)

Painter of Battles
Average Vine Rating: (29 Reviewers)

Bookworm says, The Butterfly Effect
Perez-Reverte draws you into the story as he meticulously recounts (probably from his own experiences as a war journalist) example after example of the insanity of war and examines the cruelty and finality of its outcome. In essence, Perez-Reverte gives us and in depth look at the nature of man who he perceives as possessing an in-born inescapable evil that he has, utilizing his superior intelligence, refined through the centurys into an art form. (read full review)

Leonard Fleisig "Len" says, Alienation as our present destiny is achieved only by outrageous violence perpetrated by human beings on human beings.
Andres Faulques spent thirty years as a photographer capturing instances of mans inhumanity to man. Whether in Bosnia, Cambodia, Rwanda, or Lebanon, Faulques' photos brought the face of war into our homes and at the same time made Falques famous. We've all seen photos of this sort: the burning baby running down the road in the Vietnamese village of Trang Bang; or Robert Capa's iconic Spanish Civil War photo "Moment of Death" Robert Capa - 36. Arturo Perez-Reverte's "The Painter of Battles" captures the alienation achieved by outrageous violence. What marks "Painter of Battles" as unique is the fact that Perez-Reverte does not just focus on the alienation of the victims of violence but on the `neutral' bystander who does no more than report events. Painter of Battles tells a provocative story and tells it very well. (read full review)

J. Fuchs "jax76" says, Pretentious and Intellectual
Perez-Reverte has done the seemingly impossible. He has managed to make both art and war boring. This is the novel college students want to write after they have read Gabriel Garcia-Marquez and for such a slight book it sure feels l...o...n....g. This isn't a book, as some people have said, about the butterfly effect. It's an attempt to dissect human nature as well as the nature of art. (read full review)

Elizabeth G. Melillo says, Love that 'spa' feeling
